Lady Bird Johnson's life story, heard in a compelling new way

Join us for a special event at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22 to  celebrate the launch of the new documentary series "Lady Bird,” an 11-part podcast that tells the story of Lady Bird Johnson's life and legacy.

The podcast features hours of previously unheard audio of the former First Lady telling her own life story and interviews with those who loved and knew her best.  The event will take place on Thursday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin and will feature the podcast’s reporter and host Jade Emerson, executive producer Robert Quigley, and producer Carly Rose, as well as special guests.

The podcast was created as part of The Drag, an audio production house at the University of Texas at Austin — Lady Bird Johnson's own alma mater. It tells her inspiring story, from her childhood in East Texas to her whirlwind romance with Lyndon Baines Johnson to her time in the White House and the fulfilling decades after politics. The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center will display some of the former First Lady’s personal items at the event, which is free to the public.
