Art Classes (EDU2)

Artists have long enjoyed the spoils of working outdoors, including capturing natural light, witnessing true color and movement in nature, and taking in fresh air and birdsongs. Aspiring naturalists can also benefit from slowing down to observe and document species. Become a keen observer and learn about composition, value, perspective and color through demonstration and practice. All levels welcome.

Internal Meetings

Adult Workshops (EDU2)

Join the author of The Joy of Forest Bathing and Resilience—Connecting with Nature in a Time of Crisis for a one-hour online workshop devoted to the practice of shinrin-yoku or forest bathing. Melanie Choukas-Bradley (www.melaniechoukas-bradley.com), a forest therapy guide with certification from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, and author of several nature books, will teach you how to conduct your own solo or small group forest bathing walk. Forest bathing, which originated in Japan in the 1980s, is a restorative and relaxing practice that helps you to slow down and connect with the beauty and wonder of nature through all of your senses. Melanie has spent three weeks in Japan participating in walks led by shinrin-yoku guides. She will describe the history and global enthusiasm for the practice as she teaches you how to incorporate it into your daily life in your own backyard.
